Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center - the only state operated, on-the-water welcome center in the United States. Sitting astride the banks of the historic Dismal Swamp Canal, alternate ICW route from Virginia to North Carolina, you won't find a warmer welcome anywhere. Visiting cruisers are allowed to moor to the center's piers overnight without charge. Tell Penny and her fine staff that we sent you!

Pelican Marina - a relatively small, but unfailingly friendly marina on the shores of the Pasquotank River, abeam of the downtown Elizabeth City waterfront. This marina features the only privately owned transient dockage in Elizabeth City, and also offers a nice ship's store, full fuelling services and a good restaurant next door.

International Yachting Center Center - a.k.a Sawyers Marina - located on the shores of southern Albemarle Sound's charming Scuppernong River (near the old river village of Columbia), this facility is one of the few in this region to offer transient dockage, full repair services and new boat sales. The harbor is well sheltered, and now offers far better depths than in times past. Definitely worth a look.

Osprey Yacht Club - the web site for my good friends at the Osprey Yacht Club. This fine club is located at Albemarle Plantation Marina on the beautiful Yeopim River. All marina accomodations are handled through Albemarle Plantation

Edenton Marina - a somewhat different web site for the only private pleasure craft oriented marina in the historical community of Edenton, North Carolina. Provides transient dockage in a very sheltered harbor and full repair services. The photo to the left pictures the marina's cruiser's lounge

Pirates Cove Marina - a large, well sheltered, powercraft oriented marina located immediately north of the Roanoke Sound Bridge on the shores of Roanoke Island. This facility is associated with an adjacent condo and housing complex.

Oden's Fuel Dock - One of the most useful facilities along the Hatteras village waterfront. While they do not offer overnight dockage, they are the best fueling facility in Hatteras, and the personnel can usually make reservations for visiting craft at other nearby marinas

Hatteras Harbor Marina - a popular, powercraft-sportfishing oriented marina located in the heart of Hatters village on North Carolina's Outer Banks. Easily accessed through the Rollinson Channel and located near some good restaurants, this facility offers very sheltered dockage.

Hatteras Landing Marina - a brand new marina on the North Carolina Outer Banks, located immediately north of Hatteras Inlet. We have not yet rated this marina's services

Anchorage Inn and Marina - the only commercial marina on Ocracoke's Silver Lake Harbor. Under its former owners, we did not recommend this facility, but ever since new management has taken over (some two years ago), Anchorage Inn and Marina is now worthy of ever cruiser's consideration. Check them out!

Dowry Creek Marina - a transient-friendly facility that enjoys one of the most beautiful settings on the North Carolina coast. Located on the banks of the Pungo River section of the ICW, a few miles upstream from Belhaven, this marina will appeal to cruisers who want to leave the maddening crowd behind for awhile

River Forest Manor and Marina - web site for one of the most famous stops on the North Carolina ICW. Located in Belhaven harbor, River Forest features a historic "mansion" plus one of the most awesome nightly buffets to be found anywhere - also offers full repairs at their associated yard. Bath Harbor Marina - an ultra-friendly facility located on the shores of beautiful Bath Creek, in the heart of North Carolina's oldest town. Since coming under new ownership a couple of years ago, the welcome mat has been thrown out here in a big way for visiting cruisers. Do yourself a favor and include Bath Harbor Marina in your itinerary

Broad Creek Marina - a medium sized marina flanking the shores of Broad Creek,off Pamlico River. This facility offers long term wet slip space, but no transient dockage.

McCotters Marina - the best marina in Washington, NC. Located on Pamlico River's Broad Creek. This facility has extensive wet slip storage, full repairs and a ship's store

Carolina Wind Yachting Center - web site for a combination charter agency/boat brokerage/marina located along the downtown Washington, NC waterfront. Unfortunately, no transient dockage is available, but slips can be rented on a longer term basis. This facility features a neat ship's store in a converted, historic brick warehouse.

Matthews Point Marina - A well thought-out web site for one of our favorite marinas on the Neuse River. Located along the Neuse's southerly banks, just west of the ICW - Adams Creek intersection, Jet Matthews and company offer just about the friendliest welcome around. Couple that can-do attitude with ultra-sheltered dockage and a well marked channel, and you have a real winner!

Whittaker Creek Yacht Harbor - Another first class pleasure craft facility located on the Neuse River, near the sailcraft rich, river village of Oriental. Besides good transient dockage and a fine ship's store, this facility features some of the most extensive sailcraft charter services in North Carolina!

They are also home to Whittaker Creek Yacht Charters, where you'll find some of the best bareboat in North Carolina. If you enjoy cruising the Pamlico Sound, Outer Banks, Inner Banks or Beaufort, Cape Lookout area, you owe it to yourself to consider renting one of Whittaker Creek's fine sailboats.

Harkers Island Fishing Center - one of two marinas located on the southern shores of Harkers Island. This facility has some thin water problems at low tide, and there is a definite flavor of smaller powercraft and sportfishing.

Town Creek Marina - This facility offers some of the only privately managed transient dockage in Beaufort, North Carolina, the state's most popular port of call. Beside well sheltered berths, Town Creek features full repairs and its own on-site restaurant

Beaufort Inn - A wonderful inn in Beaufort which overlooks the approach via the Gallants Channel to Taylor Creek. There is sometimes a transient space available in the wet slips which front the inn. Be SURE to call ahead of time to check on berth availability

70 West Marina - A large marina, located on the upstream limits of ultra-sheltered Peletier Creek, just west of Morehead City (just off the ICW's passage through Bogue Sound). While transient dockage is NOT offered, cruisers will find just about every other imaginable service here, including full repairs and extensive dry stack storage.

Spooners Creek Yacht Harbor - One of our very favorite marinas in the world. Located on the northern shores of Bogue Sound, a short hop west of Morehead City and the Atlantic Beach Bridge. Cruisers can be assured of a warm and knowledgeable welcome at this unusually well appointed facility. The dockage basin is so well sheltered that the US Coast Guard shelters their craft here when a hurricane threatens. That's quite an endorsement. Tell Lanette and Bruce we sent you!

Dudley's Marina - The best place to find transient dockage in the charming coastal village of Swansboro. This facility also offers full repair services, fuel and a complete tackle store. After tying up, PLEASE walk across the bridge and have dinner at Captain Charley's Seafood Paradise. You won't be sorry!!!!!

Swan Point Marina - Check out the web site for the good folks at Swan Point Marina in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. This marina is well situated at the intersection of the ICW and the New River, on a portion of the Waterway which offers few other pleasure craft oriented facilities. On a personal note, these people have helped us out on more than one occasion. To be succinct, we highly recommend this marina!!!!

Previously Paul had been President of Stevens Yachts, a charter company with numerous bases all over the world and a boatbuilding operation in Taiwan. Bennett Brothers has built its enviable reputation on providing exceptional service to all of our customers. As custom boatbuilders, we have produced true works of art ranging from catamarans to a luxurious 58 foot sportfishing vessel. The same skilled craftsman that work on our custom builds attend to the many boats that come to the yard for service work.
