Western Florida coastline. Actually, this complex is operated under

skimpy entrance depths however.

the inn.
http://www.fourwindsmarina.com/
Four Winds Marina - Four Winds is a very friendly marina, BUT
it is located off the beaten track on the northern tip of Pine Island,

transients are accepted, and the on-site restaurant is quite good.
http://www.bocagrandemarina.com/

Florida between markers 2 and 3 of the ICW and offers 24 transient slips

forget the award winning, on-site restaurant. Its cuisine is heavenly!

The Field Club - Perhaps the most elegant member of the Florida
Council of Yacht Clubs. Be sure to read the historical account of their
unique clubhouse on the web site. This writer has been fortunate enough
to visit with this club on three occasions. Hope I'll be invited back
soon. Located just south of Sarasota, directly off the ICW.
http://www.sarasotayachtclub.org

http://www.birdkeyyc.com/
Bird Key Yacht Club - A well thought out web site for another
of Sarasota's FCYC yacht clubs
http://www.marinajacks.com/
Marina Operations and Marina Jacks Restaurant - Many cruisers
think of this large facility as the Sarasota city marina, but it is
actually a privately run operation. Also, you will hear many local captains
refer to this marina as "Marina Jacks." That is the name of
the good, on-site restaurant, while the marina is actually "Marina
Operations."
http://www.longboatkeymarina.com/
Longboat Key Moorings - A great web site for a great marina.
Longboat Key Moorings is our favorite stop on the waters stretching
from Sarasota to Tampa Bay. This marina has it all! One of the impressive
characteristics of their web site is the "Live Cam." If you
want to see what the weather is like at any time on Longboat Key, just
call up this site and look at the live cam. What a GREAT feature!
http://www.bradentonbeachmarina.com/

Regatta Pointe Marina - No beating around the bush about this
one - Regatta Pointe is one of the finest marinas in all of Florida.
Featuring first-class service and well protected, transient friendly
dockage, you won't find a warmer greeting anywhere. Don't miss the on-site,
Riverside Cafe. Open for all three meals of the day, it is, quite simply,
excellent. By the way, DON'T confuse the land-side location of Riverside
Cafe with the large restaurant located on the docks, out over the water.
This latter structure has housed a revolving door or forgettable restaurants.

St. Petersburg Municipal Marina - This just may be the finest
municipal pleasure craft facility that I have ever reviewed. The web
site is pretty thin, however.
http://www.renaissancehotels.com/dpp/PropertyPage.asp?MarshaCode=TPASR
Renaissance Vinoy Resort Marina - Web site for the first class
marina at St. Petersburg's illustrious Renaissance Vinoy Resort Motel.
Unfortunately, this web site deals almost exclusively with the motel
instead of the marina.
http://www.diyc.org/
Davis Island Yacht Club - Web site for the organization known
as the "sailingest yacht club" on the Western Florida coastline.
Facilities are available for accredited visitors, and DIYC is a member

of the most fun-loving organizations in Western Florida. The club is
located on the shores of Boca Ciega Bay, hard by the Gulfport Municipal
Marina
Tierra Verde Marina - A large marina and dry stack storage
operation located on the western shores of Boca Ciega Bay, hard by the
ICW's path. The only knock against this marina is its wet slip's lack
of protection from extra foul weather. Don't confuse Tierra Verde Marina,
with the facility listed below
http://www.tvresortmarina.com/
Tierra Verde Resort Marina - This facility is accessed from
the inner reaches of Pass-A-Grille Inlet. It is set in an ultra sheltered
harbor, surrounded by a large hotel - dining complex. We rate it as
a superior marina for both transient and resident craft!
http://www.pagyc.com/
Pass-A-Grille Yacht Club - One of the smaller (but unfailingly
friendly) members of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs. This club's
docks must be approached via Mud Key Channel by all but small craft.
http://www.baypinesmarine.com/html/marina.html
Bay Pines Marina - A small, mostly dry stack marina guarding
the upstream shores of Long Bayou
http://www.clwyc.org/

located on the western (gulf side) flank of the ICW in Clearwater Beach.

and very difficult!
http://www.homosassariverside.com/
Homosassa Riverside Resort - The only marina currently providing
transient friendly dockage on the Big Bend's Homosassa River. Good dining
on-site and nearby!
http://www.suwanneehouseboats.com/
Miller's Marina - The only marina available to cruising craft
on the beautiful Suwannee River. Just be sure to remember that the river's
entrance cut from the Gulf only carries a bare 3 1/2 to 4 feet of water
at MLW. Don't miss the nearby Salt Creek Shellfish Company for your
evening meal!
http://www.gulfstreammotelmarina.com/
Gulf Stream Motel and Marina - A brand new motel and marina
on the banks of the Steinhatchee River. This marina is not yet included
in our Cruising Guide to Western Florida, nor have we visited
it. However, we have received some e-mail from fellow cruisers praising
it. We will be sure to catch Gulf Stream as part of our research for
the next edition of CGWF
http://www.seahag.com/marina2/marinfo.htm
Sea Hag Marina - An improving marina on the Steinhatchee River
that already offers transient dockage. This is the river's closest facility
to the Gulf's open waters. If all goes according to plan, this marina
may well have much to offer visiting cruisers by the fall of 2001
http://steinhatchee.com/riverhaven/
River Haven Marina - Currently, this is the place to dock on
the Steinhatchee River, IF you can clear a 25-foot fixed bridge. Sailcraft
and taller powercraft will need to make use of Sea Hag Marina, linked
just above.
